I finally hopped on the ballet flat bandwagon post 2010. Admittedly, I thought they were weird looking up until six months ago. I’m a 9.5 so anything that makes my feet look bigger I'm not a general fan of.
HERE’S A SHOPPING TIP I LIVE BY – buy a trend or something risky in a less expensive version, and if you like it enough to wear the cheap version often, go ahead and invest. I bought these black sling backs from Vince last April before a trip to LA. I wore them a little bit around LA but never again once I got back home (it's easier to wear riskier things out of town).
Inspired by my coworkers, I started wearing them more and more. I recently started following The Coveted on instagram and saw her post a pair of mesh Chanel flats that were to die for. I think these mesh flats are better than the normal mesh flats because it still freaks me out to see toes through shoes.
Then two days later she posted some brown horsehair Chanel flats and oops I did it again.
Here’s what i’ve found:
The quality is stunning
The horsehair ones are higher cut on the toe which is more flattering
They have no stretch, size up a half size if you’re in between sizes or second guessing
They are generally very comfortable, but they do need to be broken in slightly if you plan on wearing them all day
Here’s the truth: It’s no small investment, but there are a million ways i can rationalize the price and rarity. I don’t regret the purchase(s) and would buy a neutral pair today if it was posted on her story!
Till next time! Happy shopping.
